Step into the Arena



Our "summer tour" is officially on! The small town destination list has been made and some good old fashion fitness/food/fuel is about to go down #followyourfitness. We are excited and this part of Vagabond Fit is a blast, but along with the easy breezy side of gathering lifestyle fitness content is the actually rubber meets the road, lets get this business alive and ready to thrive side of things. A necessary yin to our yang. As of right now we have 2 services up and running and a little over a dozen clients between them. We are rockin' and rollin' and in all honesty it has been a great start. Our vision is being formed and our direction claimed. There is excitement and anxiety in the unknown, and right now, there is a lot of unknown. However, this I do know, successes and failures will come, effort will be spent, time will be invested, and a brand will be built.


Most of you probably know that along with starting and running this business with my wife, I am also a coach at Indiana Wesleyan University. It is a career that I hold dear to my heart and has given me more than I feel I can repay. Each year hands me certain moments that I hold on to and store away in the "I freakin love this job" file. One of those moments from this year is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. This moment consisted of my throwers giving a gift to their brother in throws, Brennan Coil. Brennan is an Indoor National Champ, 5 time All American, and school record holder. He is a stud and his abilities and work ethic will be talked about for years to come...heck, the legend of Mr. Big Cakes (Yep, you read that right, Mr. Big Cakes was his nickname) might out live us all. However, along with his massive successes, he also experienced great failures. He never gave up, but more importantly, he dared greatly. Anyways, the gift simply consisted of a framed quote by Theodore Roosevelt that epically and elegantly summed up his career. It was as if they gave him the ability to perfectly hold a chapter of his life in his hands....to relive, to draw from, to teach from, and to just simply be in those days again and again...

Kyla and I refuse to be those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat. We will be amongst those who dared greatly, who at their best know high achievement and at their worst know failure. But at the very least we will all be able to say, we stepped into the arena.
